چکیده

Abstract Lichen thalli provide a long-lived and stable habitat for colonization by wide range of microorganisms. Increased interest in these lichen-associated microbial communities has revealed an impressive diversity fungi, including several novel lineages which still await formal taxonomic recognition. Among these, members the Eurotiomycetes Dothideomycetes usually occur asymptomatically lichen thalli, even if they share ancestry with fungi that may be parasitic on their host. Mycelia isolates are characterized melanized cell walls display exclusively asexual propagation. Their placement requires, therefore, use DNA sequence data. Here, we consider recently published data from characterize formally describe two new, individually monophyletic at family, genus, species levels. The Pleostigmataceae fam. nov. Melanina gen. both comprise rock-inhabiting associate epilithic, crust-forming lichens subalpine habitats. phylogenetic monophyly lack statistical support, but family was resolved as sister to order Verrucariales. This comprises Pleostigma alpinum sp. nov., P. frigidum jungermannicola, lichenophilum genus is supported lineage within Chaetothyriales. To date, this single M. gunde-cimermaniae forms group large Herpotrichiellaceae, Chaetothyriaceae, Cyphellophoraceae, Trichomeriaceae. new analysis subclass Chaetothyiomycetidae provides insight into level delimitation classification ecologically diverse fungi.

Ergosterol biosynthesis in novel melanized fungi from hypersaline environments.

Halotolerant and halophilic melanized fungi were recently described in hypersaline waters. A close study of the sterol composition of such fungi, namely Hortaea werneckii, Alternaria alternata, Cladosporium sphaerospermum, Cladosporium sp., and Aureobasidium pullulans revealed the dominance of ergosterol and the presence of 29 intermediates of its biosynthesis pathway. The presence or absence o...

Unguided Species Delimitation Using DNA Sequence Data from Multiple Loci

A method was developed for simultaneous Bayesian inference of species delimitation and species phylogeny using the multispecies coalescent model. The method eliminates the need for a user-specified guide tree in species delimitation and incorporates phylogenetic uncertainty in a Bayesian framework. The nearest-neighbor interchange algorithm was adapted to propose changes to the species tree, wi...

Bayesian species delimitation using multilocus sequence data.

In the absence of recent admixture between species, bipartitions of individuals in gene trees that are shared across loci can potentially be used to infer the presence of two or more species. This approach to species delimitation via molecular sequence data has been constrained by the fact that genealogies for individual loci are often poorly resolved and that ancestral lineage sorting, hybridi...
